Considering going natural but need help!?

okay well i just got my hair cut like big time about a month a go...cuz it was looking pretty bad..i swear it was a backwards mullet...short in the back and long in the front..so yeah my mom cut it..and then she relaxed it..but im regretting that she did..bc i just did some research on natural hair and im strongly considering it..it seems much more healtheir than relaxed hair and plus you dont have to deal with alot of heat and/or chemicals...but my main problem is maintaing hairstyles and keeping up w/a regimen!

does anyone have any tips?! thanx so much!

My friend and former roommate had processed hair for years but has natural hair now.

She decided to get braids for awhile to give her hair a break. When she took the braids out, a lot of her hair broke off so she went to a great hairdresser and got a nice cut and went natural.

She's had it that way for 3 years now.

She goes regularly to a shop that specializes in natural hair for trims and conditioning treatments. When she got married a few months ago, she went there for temporary braids. When I got married a month later, she went in for a straightening and pincurls. She usually wears her hair in a fro with a little skinny headband.

She looks gorgeous however she wears her hair and she says she absolutely doesn't regret going natural. It's more versatile and easier for her to take care of. Plus, her hair is really healthy.

If you don't mind a permanent hairdo, 'sisterlocks' are nice although they still have to be groomed regularly to keep the fresh look.

Fine plaits can be curled to look really sassy once your hair grows longer, and that 'do' will last you for a month (your hair can be washed without pulling out the plaits).

However, if you prefer to comb your hair very regularly, you're stuck with a 'fro' or ponytail....booooring.....but it's your choice really.

I think natural hair is good but if you really want healthy looking hair, you have to maintain it just as much as permed hair. You have to go to a stylish that specializes in natural hair to get started. Make sure you keep your hair clean, moisturized and looking neat. People who want natural hair thinks its so much easier to maintain but I beg to differ. There is nothing more disgusting than seeing natural hair looking dry and messy. Good luck.

Shave it all off and start over. You might actually enjoy the look and freedom of no hair. It's an authentic tribal style in parts of Africa.
