Back to school coloring for hair?

The last time I colored my hair was in March, and I won't recolor until September. The last color I did was my second time (once before in March or so 2006) doing a black. Now, my hair is a really dark brown and I am pretty content with the color. I also have some blonde and red in the color from a combination of previous dye jobs, some strands not taking in the color, my natural hair color (dirty blonde), and the fuschia streaks I added to my hair which faded into a light red color.

I kinda want to keep the dark brown color, but also add chunky highlights or something. I want a natural hair color for the highlights, but I want it to be something that will look good and be something different than what I've done before.

Or should I just redye it a new color? I can possibly pull off some blondes, and reds fade too quickly, but any other color will probably look good on me. Half my friends liked the black I did, and another half said I should've gone lighter.

brown looked really good on my friend who had dark brown hair, it made her look more.. pulled together, so I recomend black, just don't get an emo cut if you dye it black and don't want to be emo, and if you dye it dark with bright white/colored streaks, don't get a scene cut unless you want to be called scene.

becuz it's getting close to the first day of school I wouldn't dye your hair b-cuz of the conseqences, something might go wrong with the color and you'll be stuck like that at school.

try getting colored extensions instead. They say you should only go 2 shades darker or lighter than your natural hair color!

I think maybe any color you do will come out uneven. Maybe an unnatural red, which don't fade as quickly, and when they do, usually fade to either a nice fuschia and eventually bubblegum pink, or a nice orange...depending on the color. I just like red.
